Have a Heart 2010!

Looking for a special way to make someone smile this Valentine’s Day?

Look no further. You can show the important people in your life just how much they mean to you by ordering them valentines made by the young children at Learning Together.

It’s all part of our sixth annual “Have a Heart … Be Our Valentine” campaign.  We make it easy for you!  We make the cards, address them, and we send them for you!  You can order on line, or via mail.

Each valentine will let the recipient know WHO sent it to them and that a financial donation has been made to Learning Together IN THEIR HONOR!

This year is a bit more meaningful!  While the children at Learning Together have been decorating, painting, and stamping prints, we have had some special helpers assembling the cards.

On Saturday, January 23, we had a great time with a father/daughter volunteer group from the Wake County YMCA help us assemble these cards and package them to mail you.The "Sweet Carolina Princesses" Y Guide group and their daddys assembled 200 valenine pieces for you!   JR Shearin and Daughter Katie enjoyed their work with us - and FOR you!

Order 1 Valentine (Donation $15.00)

Order 5 Valentines (Donation $70.00)

Order a Bakers Dozen (13 Valentines) (Donation $180.00)

I would simply like to make a donation to honor the children.

Orders must be made by Midnight, Monday, February 8, 2010 to be mailed on time.

First Rung Ethics & Leadership Development Program

Learning Together is pleased to announce that we were one of the recipients of the First Rung Ethics & Leadership Development Program Internship. This program is designed to introduce a career in non-profits to students at Ravenscroft and is funded by the First Rung donor advised fund at the Triangle Community Foundation. Learning Together is excited for the chance to continue our longstanding relationship with Ravenscroft and their students.

Two interns, Amanda Piltzer & Richie Pepper from Ravenscroft worked at Learning Together for six weeks during the summer 2008.  When they returned to school in the fall they decided to organize a fundraiser for Learning Together at Ravenscroft by selling the Learning Together notecards crafted by the children.  This fundraiser contributed $900.00 to the enrichment activites for the children at Learning Together.  Thanks to Amanda and Richie for all of their initiative, creativity and hard work!

We are thrilled to welcome a new intern for the 2009 program- Casey Fuscoe. Casey will be joining the organization in June.  Welcome Casey!!

YouthWorks Community Partners

In the summer of 2008, YouthWorks, a nonprofit, multi-denominational organization that serves churches, parishes, and communities through coordinating week-long youth service and mission opportunities, will be working at Learning Together.

Different groups of 6-8 students worked at Learning Together each week during the summer. Through out the summer, the students planned & coordinated a field day for the children. They practiced with our children for in preparation for the events.

Learning Together was pleased to have this opportunity and we look forward to working with YouthWorks in the future. For more information on the program, please visit their website at www.youthworks.com .
